HPP Biennial Scientific Retreat 2010

Dates:

19th Oct till the 22nd

 

Theme:

We anticipate that this retreat will enhance the research productivity and build capacity here at the DDMRI in the following ways:

1.  Enable students and scientists to receive independent critique and input into the on-going research projects.

2.  Provide feedback on the strengths and weakness of our program as currently constituted.

3.  Assist in the development of the strategic vision of the HPP program

4.  Identify new opportunities for international collaborations and the development of new technologies at HPP.

 

Distinguished guests:

The Ragon Institute of MGH, MIT and Harvard Steering committee and researchers, Oxford University scientists, Australian Monash University in Melbourne scientists, University of Nairobi,  and various local South African scientists

Prof. Laurie Glimcher, Prof. Sharon Lewin, Prof. Walter Jaoko

 

Time of departure:

2pm on the 19th, return by 4pm on the 22nd

Mondazur San Lameer Resort

Dress Code:

Casual, with bathing suit and sport wear for beach activities, something warm for the evenings

Mid-October- Mid February, is hot sunny weather, often with afternoon thunderstorms that clear quickly.

Electricity:

- The South African electricity supply is 220/230 volts AC 50 HZ.

- Most plugs are 15 amp 3-prong or 5 amp 2-prong, with round pins. If an adaptor is called for, consider bringing one with you

R20 per day
